Founded in 1990, Multimedia Research Group, Inc. is headquartered
in San Jose, California. MRG publishes market analyses of
new technologies for the communications industries, and provides
market intelligence and strategy consulting for its client
companies.
Multimedia Research Group publications have a strong following
in the United States and overseas, and its clients and customers
include: AT&T, Apple, Compaq, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and
Sarnoff Labs. Its publishing partner is Fuji-Keizai USA, New
York, N.Y.
Biographies
Gary Schultz, President, Founder, MRG, Inc. is frequently quoted by the national press, including Investor's Business Daily, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, TV Technology, Information Week, and EE Times. He is a regular speaker at international events and Webinars sponsored by the National Association of Broadcasters, IBC, ABC/Telecon, IPTV World Forum, and Stanford University.
His career spans successful senior marketing and management positions in computer and video systems manufacturing, online services, technology management and publishing. He founded MRG, Inc., in 1990.
His (pending) MBA is in Marketing and Finance. He has a Master's Degree and a PhD Candidacy in Communications from the University of Wisconsin (Madison); and Professional Certificates in Technology Administration, Film/TV Production, and Financial Management from Columbia University, NYU, and Stanford University.

Christian Schwafel, Senior Analyst, specializes in industrial
planning and business management issues, including short-term
and long-term strategic planning. With over 20 years experience
in the high-tech industry, he has extensive experience with
technology manufacturing issues. He holds a BSME and MBA from
Stanford University.

Elaine Mansfield, Analyst, has over 20 years experience
in biotechnology product development and diagnostics with a
specialty in genomics. Her strong statistics background is central
to the design and analysis of market research surveys, and to
the development of published biotech/nanotech reports. She holds
both Ph.D. and MS degrees from University of California, Berkeley
in Molecular Biology.

Neal Chandra, Senior Analyst and Strategy Planner, is
well known in the electronics industry as a CEO and business
turnaround specialist. His career spans senior marketing, international
management and CEO positions in the computer and semiconductor
industries for TI, Fairchild, Bamta, PCMCA, Poqet Computer and
General Electric. He holds MSEE and BSEE degrees from the University
of Connecticut and the University of New Haven, respectively;
and speaks four languages.

Len Feldman, Director, IPTV Analysis, has more than 20 years of consulting,
management, marketing and engineering experience with Internet,
computer and media companies worldwide. His previous positions
include President, Equipoint Corporation; Sr. Product Marketing
Manager, Netscape Communications Corp; and Director of Product
Marketing, Toshiba America. Len holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg
Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and
a BS in Management (Magna Cum Laude) from Robert Morris College,
Pittsburgh, PA.

Kellie McKeown, Business & Operations Analyst, has
over 15 years experience in space and telecommunications product
and project management. Her background included management of
a staff of 90 for $110M space flight hardware development for
NASA; Software Program Management for Sony's DIRECTV Latin America
project and for American Sky Broadcasting (AskyB operated by
News Corp); development of a product analysis and market strategy
for a TV automation system for a [ATSC] PSIP generator; development
of TV-Anytime Forum Membership programs and membership to over
100 companies; and others. Kellie holds a BS in Computer Science
from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech); and professional
memberships in SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television
Engineers), PMI (Project Management Institute), and PATCA (Professional
and Technical Consultants Association).

Kiran Bellare, Senior Analyst, has worked with media delivery and data communication systems since 1996. Most recently he was Sr. Director at Phoenix Technologies, working on strategy and business development for media platforms and entertainment devices for the digital home, including for IPTV set-top boxes and portable media and gaming devices. Prior to that he was Director at Openwave Systems for mobile device management products and services for GSM, CDMA and 3G wireless networks. He also has worked at Sprint on the CLEC and PCS (wireless) strategy; and as a Consultant at McKinsey & Company, producing product and market strategies for Fortune 100 service providers and OEMs.
Kiran has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business; an MS in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara; and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.

Steven Hawley, Senior Analyst, has been an independent industry analyst, researcher and consultant serving the telecommunications and digital media industries since 2001. His primary subject matter expertise is in the area of Internet Protocol Television, or IPTV.
Prior to establishing his consultancy, Mr. Hawley served in management and team member roles for companies that include Myrio Corporation (now a Siemens company), Northern Telecom (now Nortel Networks), and Adobe Systems.
In addition to his contributions to MRG, Mr. Hawley is Editor of ipTV News Analyst, a monthly newsletter, and is author of a series of in-depth reports on IPTV.

Jose Alvear, Editor/IPTV Analyst, specializes in digital media research and analysis including IPTV, streaming media and digital video recorders. Since the early days of the Internet, he has been at the forefront of the high-tech industry working as an editor, freelance writer, news reporter, researcher, and book author. In 1998, Alvear wrote the first technical book on streaming called "Guide to Streaming Multimedia" and co-authored many others. He is an expert in many digital technologies such as online music, Internet video and interactive TV and maintains multiple blogs about these topics. He has a BA in English from Brooklyn College.

Peter White, Senior Analyst, has built a deep understanding of the technology and relationships around digital video including IPTV, mobile TV, cable networks, digital satellite, and video over the internet. He has spoken at, or chaired, 20 events in the US and Europe in 2007, and has worked with major players such as Microsoft and IBM, as well as start ups, on consulting assignments. In addition to his contributions to MRG, Peter White is also the CEO of Rethink Research Associates, where he is the principal analyst writing research papers and a weekly review of technology trends within digital media. His previous position was founder and CEO of UK technology analyst firm, ComputerWire, until it was sold to Datamonitor in 2002. Peter holds a BA in Psychology from Leicester University.

John B. Jackson is Analyst/Contributor at MRG. He brings over 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, and operations from various industries. Jackson's career began in high technology sales in the semiconductor industry at Signetics Inc., but he soon moved to high technology market research with Dataquest Incorporated. At Dataquest, he served as Vice President for nearly ten years and held a variety of roles in sales, marketing and research. Later, he joined Bowne and Company, the world's largest financial printer, and served as Senior Vice President responsible for sales, marketing, and operations. Jackson also was Sales Director at Forrester Research Incorporated, an IT advisory firm. Jackson is an Adjunct Professor in "Entrepreneurial Marketing" at California State University, Fullerton. He has BA degree from CSUF and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
