Verimatrix and Widevne Announced Patent Lawsuit is Settled

Verimatix and Widevine announced that they settled their patent lawsuit. In August 2007, Widevine filed a lawsuit against Verimatrix alleging that its products infringed two of Widevine patents. The company has now granted Verimatrix a license that covers the patents. Verimatrix said the settlement has no material bearing on the company, but would not say whether it had to pay Widevine any licensing fees.

JDSU Acquiring Agilent

JDSU is acquiring the network solutions communications test business from Agilent for US$165 million in cash. The acquisition includes Agilent’s “Long Term Evolution (LTE),” or 4G, network verification and deployment products. Agilent’s business unit had annual revenue US$162 million from sales of service assurance monitoring systems, drive test and protocol test instruments used by leading Service Providers and equipment manufacturers worldwide.
